Our client is seeking a Mechanical Designer. This position will include involvement with delivering technically challenging conceptual, feasibility, and detailed engineering mining plant design work. Working closely within an experienced multidiscipline engineering team, you will help develop and deliver plant solutions from concept to implementation.
Job Duties:
Perform conceptual, feasibility and detailed engineering plant design work, including but not limited to: Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (PID), General Arrangement (GA) Drawings, Equipment, Piping layouts and isometrics, Piping and Instrument Lists, Data Sheets, and Schedules.
Generate drawings, schematics alongside the associated discipline Engineers for support on studies and plant design/build opportunities.
Generate and support design calculations, drawings, specifications, adjudications, progress tracking, inspections, quality control reports/data, and other technical documentation.
Work within company drafting and design standards that support the integration with multi-office, multi-stakeholder collaboration.
Periodically travel to Vancouver, BC, for head-office, corporate activities and Sudbury, ON, for design office and project implementation activities.
Periodically travel to site to support inspections, audits and design/build opportunities.
Completion of assignments on time and on/under budget.
Other activities as per the direction of RMS ExCo Team.
Interface between Operations, Engineering, Projects, and Supply Chain to maximize performance between the groups.
Maintain constant communication and collaboration with the Project Director, Project Managers and Project Engineers to support understanding scope trend, battery limits and changes to projects as they mature.
Assist Engineering and Supply Chain in researching, developing and on-boarding new equipment suppliers, components, and developing/maintaining design databases.
Assist projects in preparing schedules or work breakdown structures per design standards.
Generate, maintain and distribute ‘request for information’ (RFI) documentation to various vendors.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a B.A.Sc. in mechanical, civil, process engineering.
Three to five years of relevant manufacturing, consulting experience in a heavy industrial setting.
Special attention to those with a background in industrial process plants, wastewater treatment and or industrial
Building design experience.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient AutoCAD, SolidWorks skills; 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
Other desirable technical skills include Plant3D, Revit, Civil 3D and Inventor.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer usage.
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
Flexibility to travel both locally and internationally.
