Job Summary:
Our client in Waterloo, Ontario is seeking a Director or VP of Construction specializing in multi-story residential/commercial buildings construction to join their team!
Job Duties:
• Ensure the successful completion of the project, its profitability, and for retaining the owner as a continuing client
• Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy, demonstrate superior leadership skills of a team of construction specialists from Project Managers, Coordinators to Site Supervisors
• Monitor/control construction progress through administrative direction of on-site project personnel to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget
• Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interests and maintains good relationships with client
• Assist with reviews and negotiates contracts; liaises with legal counsel as appropriate in conjunction with EVP Construction
• Develop, recommend and implement the project plan after the project is awarded
• Identify required and optional changes in project scope; negotiates change orders with the owner
• Hire, coach/mentor and provide direction and review the performance of personnel reporting directly to the VP Construction
• Maintain safety standards in all aspects of each project
Qualifications:
• 15+ years of project management experience in the construction industry
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of residential and/or commercial construction (technology, equipment, materials, negotiation, engineering, estimating, scheduling and safety)
• Knowledge of and experience with a variety of project delivery methods, including design build
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills required (tact, diplomacy, influence). Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
• Preference given to those with high-rise residential project experience
