Urban Planner Land Development

Our client is a full-scale design-build company best known for self-financing and managing some of the best residential developments in the London area. Due to significant growth, they are seeking an Urban Planner specializing in Residential Developments to join their team!

This individual will be responsible for coordinating the submission of a variety of planning applications and site plan designs.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


•    Prepare and manage multiple planning projects within London
•    Assist in management of projects through the approval process including providing strategic advice to executive team
•    Liaise with Municipal and Regional approval authorities as well as consultants to obtain approvals for condominium and small building residential projects in London
•    Act as the primary contact for the consulting project team (planning, traffic, engineering, geotechnical, environmental, surveyor etc.)
•    Conduct research in support of planning policy and land development due diligence
•    Prepare and submit planning justification reports, urban design briefs, draft Zoning By-laws, and draft Official Plan Amendments while adhering to strict deadlines

Required Skills and Qualifications will include:


•    A degree in Urban Planning
•    3+ years of experience
•    Experience in land use planning with demonstrated knowledge of complex projects (i.e. subdivision plans, official plan and zoning amendments, sites plan approvals, plans of condominium etc.)
•    A thorough understanding of the Planning and Development processes, including Draft Plan of Subdivision and Condominium, Zoning Amendments, and Site Plan approval
•    In depth knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act
•    Experience with townhome and small building developments
•    Civil engineering experience
•    Experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and AutoCAD
•    Able to work both independently and as part of a team
•    Ability to negotiate effectively
•    Excellent analytical and organizational skills and ability to manage larger teams of sub-consultants
•    Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
•    Full Membership in CIP/OPPI is an asset, but not required
•    A valid driver’s license is required, as some travel will be expected
