Structural Engineer, Buildings

Our client is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team in Western Canada!
    
This individual will provide technical knowledge to the buyer during the development of the building management plan. They will also support project delivery on various projects.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
•    Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of building structural systems including structural and seismic code compliance
•    Work with multi-disciplinary team of facility management professionals and technicians to develop short and long-term capital planning for existing facilities
•    Support Project Delivery Services during the project initiation and planning by reviewing material, cost and timing, estimates and reports for building structural systems including structural and seismic code compliance
•    Review statements of work for engineering consulting services
•    As required, review and provide feedback regarding investment analysis reports

Required Skills and Qualifications will include:
•    Bachelor’s degree in civil and structural engineering from an accredited institution
•    7+ years of experience in engineering building and industrial projects
•    P.Eng designation with APEGA or the ability to register
•    Must have a well-rounded background in civil and structural project design and construction
•    Knowledge of concrete, steel and wood structures
•    Working knowledge of the National Building Code and common structural engineering software
•    Strong understanding of the engineering environment in mechanical sector
•    Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
•    Good communication and interpersonal skills in both official languages considered an asset
•    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
•    Ability to manage competing priorities in fast paced environment
•    Ability to work on several projects concurrently
•    Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
•    Able to monitor costs, including control of project schedule
•    Proficient with MS Office suite
•    Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees
•    Strong organization skills
•    Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
•    Prior customer interface experience
•    Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail
•    Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages preferred
•    Proficiency with computer Tools
