Senior Electrical Engineer - Lead

Our Client is currently seeking an energetic and innovative Senior Electrical Engineer to assume leadership of their Electrical Department. This is a senior position and will report to the Manager of Engineering. 

Along with building strong client relationships, the incumbent Candidate will play a key role in supporting the organization’s strategy by providing expertise in the following areas:

•       Prepares staffing schedules, detail design milestones and man-hour estimates
•       Prepares Change Request as required
•       Researches suitable solutions and estimating cost and timescales
•       Provides mentorship to junior engineers and designers
•       Generates electrical construction work packages and specifications
•       Independently evaluates the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals
•       Applies standard engineering tasks and exhibits a working knowledge of applicable codes
•       Develops planning, scheduling and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work
•       Reviews and generates design data from P&IDs
•       Performs the more sophisticated and complicated designs and calculations in accordance with established company standards
•       Coordinates details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines
•       Supervises, checks and assists designers and drafters in their assignments
•       Prepares and /or supervises engineering reports, studies, calculations and checks drawings as required

Desired Skills and Experience


Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree, or equivalent qualification
Minimum 2-4 years experience in the oil and gas sector
Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
Previous experience with instrument sizing, specification and datasheets
Knowledge of PLC, DCS, and SCADA design wiring and programming
Experience with AutoCAD and Microstation an asset
Solid knowledge of applicable standards, codes, and requirements (CEC, ISA)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team
Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering
Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Self-starter with the ability to work independently when required
Excellent communication skills
