Our client is looking for a Regional Leader of Building Science Engineering to join their team in either their Hamilton or London, Ontario offices!
This individual will provide supervision, training, coordination, and quality control for all employees in the building science group while performing project management functions.
Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Business Development:
o Identify, develop, and maintain new and existing contacts with clients as well as identifying project opportunities.
o Promote the company at relevant professional organizations, industry events, and tradeshows.
o Finalize local sales plans and actively collaborate on sales activities, qualifying leads, and special events.
o Establish a presence at professional association events and provide presentations/seminars in order to establish new client connections.
• Strategic Planning
o Involvement in the preparation of strategic plans in consultation with the Senior Vice President.
o Assist in the development of new services in accordance with company goals and objectives in meeting clients’ needs.
o Working with other Department Heads and Executives to develop and maintain project management control systems, and document standards companywide and for areas under his/her control (e.g. proposals, reports, specifications, standard operating procedures, etc.).
o Financial Responsibility
o Responsible for group financial performance ensuring group budgets are prepared on time and profit and utilization targets are met.
o Ensuring employees under your supervision perform financial and administrative responsibilities on a timely basis.
• Supervision of Staff
o Ensuring the well-being and safety of employees at assigned work sites.
o Coordinating group resources, including employee allocation, equipment control and maintenance, vacation scheduling, weekend resources, etc.
o Providing technical assistance to employees under supervision.
o Responsibility for performance management, training, development, and discipline as required.
o Ensuring all staff are following established QC protocols.
• Coordination of Project Activities
o Scheduling inspections, surveys and meetings with clients/contractors.
o Overseeing preparation of contract documents to company standards.
o Participating in all quality control initiatives; submitting all work for quality review prior to submission to clients.
o Coordinating work and client contacts with other groups within the company.
o Making suggestions to Department Managers and/or Vice President to continually improve work quality
Required Qualifications and Skills for this position will include:
• Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Civil, Environmental, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on a Building Science related discipline
• P.Eng or eligibility to register will be considered an asset
• 10- 15+ years of experience with building construction on new and existing projects
• Proven success in business development
• Ability to provide leadership, supervision, training, and technical guidance to staff
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Must be able to read and edit technical specifications, drawings and reports
• Must have strong interpersonal, presentation and team building skills
