Plant Controller

Plant Controller Our client in Sarnia, Ontario is looking for an Plant Controller specializing in financial activities to join their team! Reporting operationally to the President and CFO of our Client, the Plant Controller leads the financial activities at the plant facility and is accountable for plant level responsibilities including cost accounting and analysis, accounts payable, order entry, bill of materials, periodic financial reporting, margin analysis, aligning costing methods and data accumulation. The Controller will also be responsible for our Clients entity accounting and financial activities including the monthly close, accounts receivable/accounts payable, debt management, and basic cash management. The Controller will promote a strong health, safety and environment culture on site and within the team. Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: •Assure adherence to the corporate accounting policies and internal controls established by corporate financial management •Manage month-end closing by reviewing journal entries as necessary, analyzing inventory valuation, validating warehouse sub-ledger to GL reconciliation and reviewing work orders •Review labor reporting and cost, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels; •Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Compare and analyze actual manufacturing and other business costs to budget by work order; •Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts with Inventory Control, resolving differences as needed and reconciling results to the GL; •Perform audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly; report results monthly •Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems. •Review departmental expenses for any excessive spending; •Prepare cost accounting reports for presentation to management consistent with operation’s vision; •Ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations; •Annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting; •Manage incoming and outgoing cash effectively •Analyze internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported; Required Skills and Qualifications will include: oB.S. in Accounting or Business Administration, CPA preferred; o12+ years of relevant experience in: oPlant Controller or Cost Accountant in a manufacturing environment, managing a staff, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis; oSetting department budgets, forecasts, cost standards, analyzing variances, and presenting reports to management; oPerforming month-end close procedures such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and cross department allocations; oManaging periodic inventory counts, reconciling counts to book, analyzing obsolescence, and recording adjusting transactions. oAbility to communicate policy and procedures to all levels within an organization; oAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills; oExperience with Microsoft NAV oExcellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; oExperience with supervising staff in a team environment;
