Our Client Yellowknife has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will provide technical and business development expertise to our Mechanical Engineering practice within our Buildings Engineering group. Projects will vary in size ranging from small commercial developments to industrial, government and healthcare facilities. Candidate will also grow/expand this group and increase our market share.
Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead the mechanical design process on major projects of various size and complexity;
Maintain and grow current business and client relationships;
Deliver solutions and troubleshooting to support the mechanical team on client and technical issues;
Mentor and train junior staff members;
Provide input to the management team on formal and informal training, recruiting and retention of staff;
Represent Our Client at client meetings, conferences and formal presentations as may be required from time to time;
Participate in the QA/QC process and assist in developing /implementing continuing improvements;
Prepare and review specifications and reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications will include:
Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited university; a senior C.E.T. with equivalent experience and abilities may also be considered;
Minimum 10 years of mechanical design and business development experience in complex commercial and government projects such as health care, infrastructure, teaching facilities and multi-unit residential buildings;
Professional Engineering designation with NAPEG or another province in Canada preferred;
Sound knowledge of business development activities and a vast network in the industry;
Well-versed in Canadian building codes and standards;
Experience with BMS controls design and specification required;
Experience implementing sustainable design/LEED®projects is an asset;
LEED®accreditation will be considered an asset;
Experience managing major projects with minimal supervision;
Proven understanding of project construction and delivery methodologies;
Experience in design-build and PPP projects is an asset;
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
