Health & Safety Advisor - Bilingual

Richmond Hill, Ontario

Our client is looking for a Bilingual Environmental Health & Safety Advisor to join their team at their head office in Richmond Hill, Ontario! The advisor will provide hand on support to field personnel and all other staff as related to the safe operations and maintenance of a pipeline. The advisor will ensure all Health & Safety policies, procedures, standards and operations are in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. ***** PLEASE NOTE: you must be ENGLISH-FRENCH BILINGUAL to be eligible for this position ***** Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Promotes “zero harm” safety culture and supports appropriate programs to achieve the target. • Participates in field activities and attends Safety and Integrity meetings to promote and advise on all safety/security initiatives and issues. • Recommends appropriate training for employees to perform their job safely. • Provides visible safety leadership and supports the Manager, EH&S with the implementation of safety and security initiatives. • Conducts risk assessments and provides advice on appropriate mitigation. • Acts as a “change agent” and “promoter” of Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) initiatives. • Leads or assists in incident investigation. • Maintains statistics for all incidents and provides recommendations to the Manager, EH&S on how to reduce incidents. • Familiar with the concept of “root cause” analysis and participates in conducting “root cause” analysis for significant incidents. • Promotes and reports on Key Performance. • Promotes near miss reporting. • Participates in designing and implementing “Loss Management System.” • Participates in and conducts inspections and audits as appropriate. • Coordinates and presents the Community Outreach program to Emergency Response, first responders and Municipalities within area jurisdiction. • Works with outside organizations (Mutual Aid Partners, Regulatory and Government) and their exercise directors to support joint exercises while ensuring company goals and objectives are identified and incorporated into the exercise. • Provides 24/7 support to emergencies, member of the ICS team and completes all appropriate training. • Responsible to be informed of all applicable regulations and to inform Leadership and field staff of implications for Operations and Maintenance. • Researches industry best practices and recommends new or improved training programs. • Attends various Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) working meetings as required. • Updates all current procedures with counterpart in the West to ensure all procedures are uniformly applied to company operations. ***** PLEASE NOTE: you must be ENGLISH-FRENCH BILINGUAL to be eligible for this position ***** Required Skills and Qualifications include: • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science and/or Safety/Hygiene. • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, 7-10 years of work experience preferred • Verbal and written fluency in English and French is required • Knowledge of pipeline operations and familiarity with the Hydrocarbon Industry. • Experienced in incident investigation and various methodologies. • Experienced in Emergency Response and ability to assist field personnel. • Demonstrated Incident Command System (ICS) experience. • Demonstrated Incident Investigation experience. • Proven strong interpersonal skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proven ability to influence in an operations setting using non-authoritative leadership (NAL) skills. • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) preferred • CSSE (Canadian Society of Safety Engineers) preferred • Certified Auditor preferred • Driving and/or travel required throughout Ontario and Quebec. ***** PLEASE NOTE: you must be ENGLISH-FRENCH BILINGUAL to be eligible for this position ***** Our client is a leader in the engineering, procurement and construction management sector, and provides project development, execution and engineering services for industrial purposes.
