Senior Pavement Engineer

Our client in Toronto is looking for an experienced Senior Pavement Engineer to join their Pavement & Geotechnical Department! This individual will be responsible for preparing and reviewing pavement engineering reports for airports, highways, roads and parking lots. Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Provide leadership and professional development of team members • Resolve technical issues; • Develop, plan, organize, and carry out pavement evaluations and investigations, and geotechnical investigations for municipal roadway/infrastructure projects; • Write and review/approve reports and specifications, prepare proposals, and make presentations; • Adhere to project budgets and objectives; • Provide technical supervision of field inspection and testing staff at construction sites and in the office; • Perform senior review of detailed engineering analysis, design and reporting for assigned projects; • Participate in internal and external project meetings; and • Business development; Requires Qualifications and Skills for this position will include: • University Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering • A minimum of 10 years of work related experience including pavement engineering, geotechnical engineering, pavement management and construction; • Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.); • Experience completing pavement designs and evaluations of flexible (asphalt concrete), rigid (portland cement concrete), composite (asphalt concrete over portland cement concrete) and gravel-surfaced pavements; • Experience preparing pavement design and pavement evaluation reports; • Demonstrated competence in structural design of highway, airport and municipal pavements using current pavement design methods and software (AASHTO DarWIN, MEPDG, KenPAVE, etc); • Expertise in pavement condition assessments including analysis of FWD, smoothness and friction data; • Extensive knowledge of pavement construction methods, materials and specifications; • Experience in geotechnical related work such as site investigations, design of shallow foundations and on-site review of construction activities (asset); • Familiarity of engineering practices in the Ontario market; • Proven success in managing and executing project engineering investigations and research, conducting evaluations and analytical work; • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and co-workers and provide technical leadership to staff; • Ability and willingness to travel (short term) within Canada; • Fluent English, written and spoken; • Ability to demonstrate that you are well organized, show initiative and are eager to learn.
