Our client in Toronto, Ontario is looking for a Construction Project Manager to join their team!

This will be for high-rise new-build construction, and this individual will act as an owner’s-representative.

This individual will:
• Be responsible for overall day-to-day management of building construction projects
• Provide advisory services to clients and assume the project management responsibility of assigned projects from the initial due diligence through planning, programming, design, construction, commissioning and final closeout
• Provide comprehensive project management for project scope, schedule and budget, timely and accurate updates and ensuring effective financial management

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Provide project management services for the delivery of assigned construction projects from initial due diligence through design, construction, commissioning and final closeout
• Develop and manage project budget(s) and schedule(s) and ensure compliance with company standards and procedures
• Monitor and evaluate construction project progress against project schedule and contract documents including the impact of changes or delays
• Prepare and manage tender process for the procurement of external consultant and contractors to support delivery of assigned projects
• Manage change order process in accordance with company standards and documentation requirements
• Lead negotiations with project stakeholders and the client to find viable solutions to complex issues
• Maintain accurate documentation for the assigned project(s) and ensure proper closure of all projects with internal stakeholders
• Ensure timely and accurate updates of project status and ensure effective financial management
• Deliver and contribute to the continuous improvement of consistent delivery methods across the organization
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and various internal and external stakeholders and proactively address project challenges
• Perform other duties as required by management
• Develop risk management plans on assigned projects including Identifying, assessing, monitoring and tracking project risks, and reporting issues to Vice President
• Assist Vice President with proposal preparation
• Attend and participate in regularly scheduled departmental and team meetings informing supervisor(s) of project progress.

Requires Skills and Qualifications will include:
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in architecture, engineering, project management, or a related field from an accredited institution
• 10-15+ years of experience
• Demonstrated project management experience in building construction projects
• PMP or eligible to obtain
• Experience in project scheduling and cost control
• Experience with Engineering Value Management Process
• Experience in preparation of tender documents
• Knowledge of project management methodologies
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of construction, planning and design in the building design and construction industry
• Knowledge of Planning Approval, Rezoning, Official Plans, Municipal Approvals, Site Plan Agreements and Development Agreements
• Knowledge of contract law including CCDC, Construction Lien Act, Building Codes, Municipal Bylaws, Environmental Legislation including environmental assessment and hazardous materials, Occupational Health and Safety legislation
• Trained in health and safety requirements in construction projects would be an asset
• Expert ability to read and interpret construction documents and building specifications
• Analytical skills to assess client requirements and determine approaches
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Exemplary writing skills
• Must be able to work effectively within a diverse multi-discipline team
• Negotiation skills to develop agreements with clients and consultants
• Customer service and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with clients
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Projects, AutoCAD, project management software and other commonly used project management systems
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to find positive solutions to complex and sensitive issues with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders
• International experience on building construction projects is an asset
• Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products and other commonly used systems in project management
• Willingness to travel outside of GTA required
• Must have G driver’s license and access own vehicle
