Our client in Edmonton, Alberta is looking for a Department Lead for MEP Building Systems (Mechanical Electrical) to join their team!

This individual will lead the group of technical and project staff working on a wide variety of complex projects involving multidisciplinary teams.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring the production of quality deliverables to clients.
• Coordinating and conducting detailed phases of project work.
• Re-evaluating conventional building engineering design practices for new innovative alternative methods
• Resolving conflicting design requirements.
• Coordinating the resources of the team.
• Mentoring and training Team Leads.
• Contributing to the business development and marketing activities of the team.
• Preparing or assisting in preparation of proposals, studies, and reports.
• Reviewing project controls, and team manpower requirements and forecasts.
• Managing the financial and personnel components of the team such as recommendations of salaries, bonuses, training, career development as well as succession planning and talent management.

Required Qualifications and Skills include:
• Engineering degree from an accredited university – Mechanical or Electrical
• P.Eng designation with APEGA
• 15+ years of building system experience (mechanical and electrical)
• Business development experience in complex commercial and institutional projects such as healthcare, postsecondary facilities, primary and secondary schools, and commercial multiuse and office developments.
• Commensurate project management training/experience.
• Commensurate personnel management training/experience and proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate staff.
• Proven track record in successfully delivering multi-disciplinary projects.
• Sound working knowledge of commercially available design and communication software.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
