Our client in British Columbia is looking for a Director of Biological Services to join their team!

Preferably this individual will specialize in Aquatic Biology, and will work on aquatic, Riparian Areas Regulations (RAR), wildlife, and vegetation assignments.

This individual could be located in one of the following offices:
• Richmond, BC (preferred)
• Abbotsford, BC
• Kelowna, BC
• Victoria, BC

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Project Management related to fish and wildlife sampling/salvages, developing vegetation management programs
• Coordination of activities with respect to consulting projects, contract preparation and project budgets;
• Training and mentoring of junior and intermediate level field staff;
• Maintaining and enhancing quality control within the group and participating in all quality control initiatives;
• Assisting the Regional Manager, Operations Manager and Senior Client Manager with marketing/client development initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing Department as required.
• Work remotely, travelling between various locations
• Supervise and train technologists in their job functions
• Develop and maintain positive client relationships

Requires Skills and Qualifications will include, but are not limited to:
• Degree or diploma in Biological, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or Fisheries sciences, or equivalent
• 10-15+ years of directly related experience
• Registration or eligibility to register as a member in the College of Applied Biology or Applied Science Technologists or Technicians in the province of BC, (RPBio)
• Experience in dealing with municipal, provincial and federal regulators
• Understanding of the Integrated Pest Management Regulations, BC Weed Control Regulation, and Invasive Plant Regulation
• Experience in environmental monitoring of construction projects, and working knowledge of erosion and sediment control practices
• Strong organizational skills to coordinate completion of multiple project deliverables
• Experience conducting fish habitat assessments
• Knowledge of Fraser Valley geography, ecology, wildlife and fish life history and habitat requirements
• Industrial Vegetation Management Noxious Weed Pesticide Applicator Certificate would be an asset
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle
• There are times when security clearance may be required; Criminal Background Check will be conducted
• This position requires someone who is able to conduct field work that can be physically demanding with exposure to a variety of weather conditions
