Our client in the Burlington, Ontario area is looking for a Municipal Design Technician specializing in Transportation/Roadway design to join their team!

This individual will support the Transportation group as a municipal CAD technician on projects involving urban and rural road design, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, and drainage works using AutoCAD.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Preparation of municipal engineering drawings in AutoCAD (plans, profiles, details, etc.) from sketches for roadways, sewers, watermains and other municipal infrastructure
• Apply CAD knowledge to municipal engineering and road construction/reconstruction projects from concept to completion
• Responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of all drawings for which you have produced
• Work with direction from Senior Transportation Technologists and Engineers
• Continued professional development through participation in internal and external learning opportunities

Required Skills and Qualifications will include:
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design Drafting from an accredited academic institution
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drafting municipal engineering design drawings
• Working knowledge of MicroStation will be considered an asset
• Working knowledge of various software packages (Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets)
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documents, e.g. plans and profiles, specifications, etc.
• Specific experience with municipal road design in Ontario is required
• Experience with implementing and managing CAD standards for various clients
• Willingness to learn new software programs
• Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail
• Experience completing quantity take-offs is an asset
• Experience working as a member of multi-disciplinary design teams is an asset
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities
