Our client in the Markham/Toronto, Ontario region is looking for a Senior Project Manager of Building Restoration and Rehabilitation to join their team!

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Supervise junior and intermediate project manager, and other staff as assigned on project by project basis

• Condition Assessments:
o Assess issues with various building components (parking garages, balconies, exterior walls, roofing, etc.)
o Liaise with Contractors and Clients
o Review of building drawings
o Visit sites to carry out visual reviews and testing
o Collect data and problem solve
o Chair internal milestone meetings to review findings and develop repair options
o Draft reports and present findings to clients

• Construction Review:
o Review and understand project specifications, and ensure that Associates understand specifications
o Prepare Bid Documents and Specifications
o Be responsible to ensure that sufficient construction site visits are being carried out by Associates to check compliance of work to project specifications.
o Be rigorous in enforcing requirements of specifications to ensure quality of work on behalf of the client.
o Review site visit reports and photos promptly. Answer technical questions and or use resources within the company to obtain required technical information.

• Collect and Track Quantities:
o Identify deficiencies and report to Project Principal.
o Work with Contractor to resolve deficiencies and to ensure compliance with specifications
o Review meeting minutes to ensure agreed items are completed
o Review Construction Summary Reports

• Project Management:
o Chair construction meetings and prepare meeting minutes
o Track progress of work compared to agreed schedule and provide comments on Site Visit Reports or to Project Principal
o Communicate with building staff and property manager to inquire about progress of work and any site issues
o Keep clients updated on the progress of work, schedule and budget
o Extrapolate quantities over entire project to track against contract estimated quantities
o Prepare Payment Certificates

• Marketing:
o Attend industry and client events
o Develop new and maintain existing relationships with clients

• Client Services:
o External: Build strong relationships with Property Managers through consistent communication, asking questions, and seeking ways to improve our services. Follow-up on requests and drive projects to completion. Answer emails immediately.
o Internal: Respond to task requests. Update Project Principals regarding status of projects. Drive tasks to completion.

• Process/Procedures Development:
o Take the lead or initiate in building or helping to build processes. During implementation of work and processes continually improve processes.

• Knowledge Development:
o Take the initiative to increase knowledge of building components and systems.
o Understand the knowledge behind each specification section and drawings on a project by project basis.
o Add knowledge articles and information to our files.
o Add knowledge learned to our specifications, processes and templates.

Required Skills and Qualifications will include:
• Degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction and/or project management
• 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, building restoration or related projects
• P. Eng designation required
• PMP would be considered an asset
• Demonstrated superior planning, budgeting and project team management skills
• Have experience successfully hiring, managing, appraising and mentoring a team of senior and junior project managers in the provision of building restoration services
• Experienced in the knowledge and application of Ontario and national building codes and regulations
• Possess excellent technical report writing, communication and presentation skills
• Excel in an open and professional environment where value is delivered through flexibility, ingenuity, and pragmatism
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
