Our client in the Whitby, Ontario area is looking for a Groundwater Well Technician to join their team on a Construction Project! This individual will be employed on a contract basis.

This individual will be involved with Groundwater Well Abandonment (Reg: 903), support the maintenance of groundwater extraction and treatment systems, and assist with the AMS direct push Drill Rig throughout the region.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Well Decommissioning of shallow Monitoring Wells
• Drillers helper on a AMS Environmental Drill Rig
• Working with Hydrogeologists on Water Wells and or Monitoring Wells
• Sampling soil and groundwater for laboratory analytical testing
• Undertaking-assisting with in-situ chemical oxidation projects (groundwater injections)
• Responsibility for site Health and Safety as the on-site company representative
• On-site supervision and coordination of subcontractors
• Maintenance and repairs of groundwater extraction and treatment systems at various locations
• Trouble shoot and understand the cause of treatment system shut-downs
• Assisting process engineer in optimizing operation and maintenance of the systems
• Reporting and filing field reports
• Service treatment and pump repairs
• Monitor, record, repair a groundwater containment system(s) within a high security environment
• Ability to comply with Canadian Nuclear Safety Board security background requirements

Required Qualifications and Skills will include:
• Degree or diploma from a recognized university/college in a related field
OR
• Relevant working experience under a certified well contractor or certified well technician
• Have or be able to obtain a Ministry of the Environmental Well Technician (903/128) License
• Have a valid D driving license in good standing (drivers abstract will be required)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience in completing and maintaining daily job reports and cost control
• Demonstrated experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of industrial mechanical equipment
• Experience/exposure with monitoring and water well installation, sampling and closure
• Experience/exposure with electrical / electronic controls
• Experience/exposure with pneumatic / hydraulic systems
• Computer skills in word processing and e-mail systems
• Demonstrated experience in working independently
• Highly motivated
• Strong Health and Safety knowledge
• The majority of the work is expected to be within the GTA area, but some travel outside of Ontario may be required
