Our client in Toronto, Ontario is looking for an Environmental Risk Assessment Specialist to join their team in a Lead position.

This individual will be responsible for growing the company’s risk assessment practice.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Management and execution of risk assessment projects, including preparing and reviewing environmental risk assessment reports, conducting and reviewing human health and ecological exposure modelling, and providing technical guidance to team members involved in environmental site assessment
• Working with the Director of Professional Practice, maintaining technical standards of practice, including SOPs, report templates, workbooks, and similar resources/tool relevant to the practice group
• Working with the Director of Service Delivery, establishing and maintaining service delivery expectations (for both internal and external clients) for the group
• Assessing existing available resources, including staffing levels, and communicating recommendations to adjust resource levels to Branch Managers and/or the Director of Service Delivery
• Working with the Director of Business Development, developing and implementing strategies to develop new business and clients, including preparation of proposals and presentations to clients

Required Skills and Qualifications will include:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field of study such as toxicology, ecology, geology, environmental chemistry, or environmental engineering from an accredited institution
• 12+ years of progressive experience in environmental engineering or science,
• 8+ years of direct experience in completing human health and/or ecological risk assessments to support Records of Site Condition in either a consulting or regulatory setting
• Professional Designation (P.Eng., P.Geo., DABT, etc.) will be considered an asset
• QPRA - registration with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change as a Qualified Person for Risk Assessment per Section 6 of O. Reg. 153/04
• Excellent knowledge of environmental risk assessment fundamentals and regulatory standards and guidance documents (both federal and provincial) pertinent to environmental risk assessment and supporting investigations (Phase One and Two ESAs, soil vapour sampling, etc.), as well as a full understanding of toxicology, contaminant fate and transport, vapour intrusion, exposure pathway analysis, and data evaluation as they relate to environmental risk assessment
• Knowledge and proficiency with common risk assessment models (e.g. MOECC MGRA, Health Canada PQRA, Johnson Ettinger, RBCA)
• Proven ability to work within quality/budget/schedule expectations
• Strong math and logic skills, with a good understanding of statistics
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
