Our client is looking for a Regional Director for our Power Delivery & Integration for their Eastern North America region to be situated in their Montreal, Quebec office!

This individual will manage Eastern North American operations for a PD&I business that involves project delivery, system planning and asset management associated with power transmission, stations, HVdc/FACTS and SmartGrid systems, and power distribution systems.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Grid Integration & Operations including power system performance/planning, power system operations planning and system design studies for both ac and dc transmission systems and for power distribution systems, as well as operational readiness studies, asset performance improvement studies, O&M process reviews, asset condition assessment and end-of-life planning studies. Other specialties include SCADA/EMS/DMS, micro-grid and Smart Grid developments.
• Ensure that all project delivery services, system planning services and asset management services are completed in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including all corporate policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
• Take on active roles as Senior Project Manager or Project Director for major PD&I projects.
• Management of growth across all practice areas
• Marketing leadership for all PD&I business development activities in Eastern North America and French Africa, and marketing support to PD&I teams elsewhere in the world.
• Maintain and manage executive level contacts with client industry leaders throughout Eastern North America.
• Manage targeted Business Development activities, including development of marketing materials, client engagement processes, proposal development
• Oversight of profitable delivery of services in the two broad practice areas
• Oversight of staff and project compliance with safety, quality and environmental objectives, and appropriate use of QMS, SMS and EMS and other systems
• Oversight of effective management of client project risks by company project teams, through deployment of company risk identification and analysis frameworks and active management of project risks throughout project execution
• Manage company risk, on active project assignments and on new proposals
• Manage administrative and marketing overheads within the North American operations
• Resource planning for delivery of PD&I assignments in ENA utilizing PD&I specialist resource pools existing or planned in company offices in Canada and the USA, and oversight of recruitments undertaken in the ENA region. In cooperation with the Project Delivery Group and PD&I practice leadership in ENA and elsewhere, identify recruitment needs and participate in recruitments for resource requirements on ENA and French African PD&I projects.
• Develop and expand the project delivery, system planning and asset management capabilities in Eastern North America, through training, symposiums/conferences and strategic hiring
• Establish and implement improvements to existing methods, procedures and toolsets

Required Skills and Qualifications will include:

• 10+ years of professional experience in the design and execution of power transmission, substation, distribution, HVdc, SCADA/EMS/DMS and Smart Grid projects, including project experience at voltages of 230 kV and higher
• Significant project and construction management experience on power transmission, substation, distribution and generation projects in North America
• 5+ years of experience managing a business engaged in EPC or EPCM project delivery in the Power industry
• Strong connections with senior decision makers in power utility and power project development companies across Canada, particularly in ENA, with particular emphasis on Hydro Quebec. Strong connections with USA power companies is also highly desirable.
• International experience, particularly in French Africa, is considered a distinct asset
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills in French (first language) and English is a must. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable
